U.S.–Columbia 10-year rental plan

July 17, 2009

Always on the look-out to strike beneficial real estate deals, the U.S.’s new military base in Colombia will likely perform its duties as planned. What is that plan specifically? To create a ‘regional hub for Pentagon operations‘ in Colombia, who holds the mantle for highest cocaine producer in the world. The U.S. already has an air base at Palanquero, north of Bogotá, but the renewed hand-rubbing for military land grabs is probably affected by getting kicked out of Manta Air Base in Ecuador. P.S. Never, ever trust what a right-wing South American ambassador to the U.S. tells the press: ‘There will be no United States military base in Colombia, the country’s Foreign Minister Jaime Bermudez said.’
