To bomb you is to know you

Photographer Guy Smallman on Obama’s ‘Good War’ in Afghanistan: ‘The Americans in their report [of an attack on the village in Farah province] have been making all these claims about a place in which they’ve never actually set foot inside of. The only contact between NATO forces and the people of this village is when they bomb them and that’s it.’

His description of being around Afghan children, some of whom have lost their entire families: ‘unnerving and heartbreaking. […] When they hear helicopters they cry and run away.’
