Post-speech

June 19, 2009

I thought the speech (which I tweeted despite Livestation and Iran TV’s iffy signals) was defensive. The protests seem to have taken some of the steam out of the Ahmadinejad camp, whom Khamenei referred to as his ‘closer’ ally. He was right about two things though: that all four candidates are part of the IRI and would likely not betray its larger purpose and structure, and that the U.S.-led blood ‘spilling’ in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Palestine leave little in the way of human rights models for the world.

I’ve put together a tutorial to help people who don’t speak Persian auto-translate Persian messages on Twitter using the new Google Translate Persian. It seems to work OK.
