untitledgunbackground1‘If the average porn consumer – a male North American, Japanese or European 20-something – were to walk into a doctor’s office and receive a virility exam, the results would be abysmal.‘ (Nb: in Brazil most porn seems to be consumed through print magazines or DVDs, and people use laptops far less often than their Northern counterparts.) 

Douglas Haddow begins by writing about consumptive porn and ends up calling for a reevaluation of masculinity. It is worth pondering the consequences of the negation of the real at the mercy of an addiction to the non-. I call for a reevaluation of masculinity and… replacing all real handguns with faux neon plastic ones. (For no particular reason the article made me think of tiny little guns.) Some things – very few things – are better faked.
